ENDING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN & GIRLS
Violence against women is any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in the public or private life (UN Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women,1993). Violence against women and girls is one of the most pervasive and least recognized human rights violations. Violence or threat of violence is used as a tool to control women’s lives and choices; it perpetuates gender inequalities, and prevents women from realizing their potential and locks them in a cycle of economic and social poverty.
EMERGENCY RESPONSE & PREPAREDNESS
The world continues to witness more humanitarian crises and higher levels of human suffering due to increased number of natural disasters and ongoing violent conflicts. Droughts, floods, hurricanes and other natural disasters have affected the lives and livelihoods of millions of people across the globe. Although significant progress has been made in predicting and preparing for disasters, the most vulnerable people on the planet are worst affected. Overall, 136 million people across the globe need humanitarian assistance and protection.
Response USA has a vision for the world in which people affected by humanitarian crises get the help they need - without any discrimination based on their color, gender, religion and ethnicity.
Response USA works with refugees and new immigrants and supports them achieve economic self reliance and contributes to their speedy resettlement in the United States. We provide emergency assistance (e.g. temporary cash assistance, food and non-food items/supplies etc.) to families and individuals who are going through financial difficulties and challenges in their life due to loss of employment and other life changing events. Response USA
works with the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOADs) and other relevant state and federal authorities to supplement their efforts for assisting the people affected by disasters in the United States. We also provide food parcels to the poor families during the holy month of Ramadan.
CHILD PROTECTION & ORPHANS SUPPORT
Globally, millions of children suffer violence, neglect and abuse every day. Exposure to disaster, violence, loss of, or separation from parents, family members and friends, deterioration in living conditions, and lack of access to services all have devastating consequences for children. Response USA undertakes culturally sensitive, and age appropriate interventions for strengthening child protection systems in all contexts - development and emergency - and strives to bring about attitudinal and behavioral changes to prevent and respond to child protection issues. We enroll and support orphans from extremely poor and hard to reach areas of the world and monthly cash allowance is used to meet their food, clothing, education and health needs.
WATER, SANITATION & HYGIENE
Globally, around 2.1 billion people lack access to safe, readily available water at home, and over 4 billion people are without safely managed sanitation facilities (WHO/UNICEF JMP- 2016). Provision of WASH education and services improves the health of family members, especially children who grow stronger and perform better in school and sports. By providing safe and clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene facilities to the most disadvantaged people in the most disadvantaged communities, YOU CAN HELP them maximize their potential in a safer and healthier environment and contribute in the fight against poverty, hunger and disease.
& FOOD SECURITY
Lack of access to adequate food not only adds to human suffering and poor health, it also hinders progress in many other areas of human development. Undernutrition – inadequate energy or nutrients – is affecting more than 150 million children worldwide. Around 821 million people – one in nine – still go to bed hungry each night.
Response USA understands that providing food assistance in an emergency can save lives, but helping people achieve economic independence through sustainable livelihoods can help change lives for good and break the cycle of poverty.
PEOPLE IN KASHMIR ARE COUNTING ON YOU
Due to the ongoing lock down and restrictions on movement in Kashmir since Aug 05 when Indian government stripped this disputed State of its partial autonomy, thousands of people – majority of whom are women and children, are facing severe lack of food. Response USA Teams are providing desperately needed humanitarian assistance; thanks to our generous supporters.
PLEASE ACT NOW; anything you are able to donate will help us feed the extremely poor and vulnerable families in Kashmir.
