A devastating new wave of destruction has struck southeastern Bangladesh. Days of relentless monsoon rains have unleashed catastrophic floods and triggered deadly landslides, leaving a trail of absolute ruin. As rivers overflow and waters continue to rise, over 1 million people are currently stranded, fighting for survival.

A Nation Under Water

The heavy rains have submerged vast swathes of Bangladesh, particularly in the eastern districts. Feni, a region just 60 miles northwest of Chittagong, has been hit particularly hard. Over 350,000 residents in Feni have been plunged into darkness due to power outages, while disrupted telecommunications and flooded infrastructure are hampering rescue efforts.

11 districts across the country have been severely affected, with critical infrastructure damages, including power lines, roads, and communications, being destroyed.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has warned that flood conditions could persist if the monsoon rains continue, as water levels are receding very slowly.

The Scale of the Crisis

44+ Lives Already Lost: The death toll is tragically rising as water levels recede painfully slowly.

7 Districts Severely Battered: Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Moulvibazar, and Habiganj have been pushed into a state of total emergency.

267,918 Households Marooned: Over a quarter of a million families are completely isolated in waterlogged homes, with roads washed out and power lines destroyed.

Tragedy in Refugee Camps: The relentless downpour triggered fatal landslides in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, tragically claiming the lives of 16 refugees—including women and children.

Lives Swept Away in an Instant

The situation is desperate. With roads and bridges entirely washed out, families are trapped on rooftops or in damp, crowded government shelters. Power grids are down, telecommunications are shattered, and clean water has become a luxury.

Without electricity, clean gas, or any way to cook, thousands of parents are watching their children go hungry, surviving on whatever dry food they can find. Disease is spreading rapidly, and the risk of acute malnutrition is rising every single hour.

Rescue teams are working tirelessly, but they cannot save these families alone.

A Call To Action

Bangladesh is already navigating severe climate vulnerabilities and immense economic pressures—this new disaster threatens to push millions over the edge.

As the monsoon season rages on, more landslides are a constant threat to the highly congested refugee camps and hillside communities. Every dollar you give today helps us dispatch rescue boats, restock empty medical clinics, and put food directly into the hands of a starving child.

Please act now. Your kindness is their lifeline.
